As you sit on the front porch of Erehwon Bungalow Retreat, you’re transported to years gone by, when life was simpler and time moved slower. Close your eyes as you sit on the expansive wrap-around porch with eaves and you can almost hear the whir of the motor of a Model T rambling down an unpaved road or the neighbor stopping by for a chat. In the 1920s, the bungalow was in its heyday and our home harkens back to those glory days.
OUR RETREAT
From the minute you walk in the front door, you’ll notice each room has been lovingly restored, with touches from the arts and crafts era like arches, columns, twelve foot ceilings and original waterfall lights. The built-in bookshelves, next to the massive fireplace, contain all the Harvard Classics and the complete works of Shakespeare for your reading pleasure.
Even with all nostalgic features, you’ll still get modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi, washer and dryer (shared with cottage guests), dishwasher, off-street parking and light housekeeping every third day.
When it comes time to eat, head to the gorgeous and well-stocked kitchen where you’ll always find all the basics for a quick snack or gourmet meal. We stock the pantry and fridge with cereal, pancake mix, spices, soda, butter, milk, Florida OJ, tea, coffee and more.
The thoughtful touches continue into the bathroom, where you’ll find a towel warmer and luxurious custom-made Erewhon Retreat tea olive soap, made from the plants found around the home.
At night, lay your head down on the plush mattresses and fall asleep on luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets. Choose from either of the queen bedrooms, one with en suite that includes a tub and shower. There is a second, large master bath, also with tub and shower and a pull out couch in the den.
Even the backyard invokes feelings of another era, when gardens were a sense of pride for homeowners. Meander through the well-kept yard, smelling and enjoying the vibrant colors of the numerous native Florida plants. Grab a book and find a spot of shade under the 90-year-old camphor trees and laurel oaks. In the evening hours, guests of the both the cottage and the bungalow gather on the deck, swapping stories of the day.
Experience peace of mind during your stay as doorbell cameras are placed in several locations. Rest assured, they provide an added layer of protection without intruding on your privacy, allowing you to relax and enjoy your time in comfort.

Bungalow Guest Reviews
The home was every bit of the peaceful calming place to stay that we hoped for and we highly recommend staying. You’ll love it!

Henry’s place was of the best places I have stayed for comfort, quality, cleanliness, value, and a great host. It is located in a safe and upcoming neighborhood with several interesting restaurants and shops within walking distance. It is also an easy Lift or Uber ride to most places around Tampa (never more than a three minute wait for pick-up while I was there). Very relaxing living spaces in a comfortable homey atmosphere. Highly recommended!
